HYGIENE AND SANITATION SERVICES 

The Department of Hygiene and Sanitation is responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy environment in the municipality. This department is structured into two main units:

Hygiene, Sanitation and Waste Management Unit

• Hygiene, Sanitation and Waste Management Section : This section is responsible for promoting hygiene practices, managing solid waste, and improving sanitary conditions. It oversees the collection, transport, and disposal of waste, as well as the maintenance and cleaning of public toilets.

Civil Protection and Environmental Unit

• Civil Protection Section : This section is responsible for preparedness, response, and recovery in the event of disasters. It develops emergency plans, organizes exercises, and coordinates actions with other agencies to deal with emergencies such as floods, fires, and accidents.
• Environment and Natural Resources Section : This section deals with environmental protection, conservation, and sustainable resource management. It monitors environmental quality, enforces environmental regulations, and promotes sustainable practices.
• Council Forestry and Green Spaces Section : This section is responsible for managing and protecting the council’s forests and green spaces. It oversees reforestation, afforestation and urban forestry activities, as well as biodiversity conservation.

By effectively managing these various functions, the Department of Hygiene and Sanitation contributes to the overall well-being of the community and protects the environment for future generations.
